The Multicultural Kindergarten at Hebrew University catered to international academics at the University. It was loosely based on Montessori methods and progressive pedagogy of inclusion. Unlike most childcare in Jerusalem which tends to cater to homogenous groups, the kindergarten was structured around each child's background. This created a sense of inclusion and shared family, a unique experience that I was hopeful would set the stage for a future of inclusion and equality.
Hebrew Universities Multicultural Kindergarten - Room Assistant
Gurewicz Early Learning Center - 3 year old room assistant
Working in the three-year-old room at GELC allowed me to flex my multi-tasking hat. As an assistant to the primary teachers, I was responsible for supporting the class in learning, creativity, safety, and community. Here, I learned how to prioritise and discovered my natural ability to task-switch.
Gurewicz Early Learning
Center - Holiday Program,
Room leader
The holiday program at the Gurewicz Early Learning Center allowed me to get creative. I had varied responsibilities from leading classes, assisting, managing the center at times, and creating week-long lesson plans. As an assistant at the center during the year, I had a unique opportunity to expand on the children's learning experiences and develop tactile, hands-on informal education that was wildly successful.
Glen Eira Chabad - 6 months-3 year old rooms room Assistant
Chabad Glen Eira is a small, intentional center. Here I did aide work with children of mixed abilities and assisted in the 'babies' room, and the three-year-old room. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Chabad Glen Eira for the kids, the staff, and the administration.
